Exploring the Underwater Treasure in Bali

At the east part of Bali Island especially in Karangasem regency, there are availabale a small traditional village. Amed, the village, is located on the north east coast of Bali, however the sites we call “Amed” actually stretch along the coast from Amed village (muck site) to Jemeluk and Bunutan, and beyond to Lipah Bay (“Japanese wreck” site).

Amed that’s a popular village in Bali for doing underwater activities. one of favourite activities that usually held here is Diving. Amed well known has a beautiful underwater scenery and great underwater situation. How to reach amed? you can to use motorbike, or car to get this village. That will be about 3 hour driving from Ngurah Rai International Airport. When you come to Bali, that will not be completed if you are not doing diving in Amed. this is the most popular diving site in Amed :

  • Jemeluk Bay : Jemeluk bay has a great reef,  The reef is an excellent site for both divers and snorkellers. To the right of the bay is the Wall and a gentle slope.
  • Bunutan Point : At Bunutan Point there is a large school of Garden eels, along with other macro subjects, plus schooling barracudas and other pelagics.
  • Japanese wreck : This wreck lies in Lipah Bay, further down the coast from Amed and is surrounded by a rich reef.
  • Gili Selang : Gili Selang is one of Bali’s least visited dive sites and is a great place to spot some of the larger pelagics.

The temperatures can vary as the sites are subject to thermoclines and on the whole visibility ranges from 14-22m.
